Job Description

Over the past several years AECOM has participated and will continue to participate in the major Alternative Delivery P3 and Design-Build projects in Canada such as the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Ontario Line, Waterloo LRT, Honorable Herb Gray Parkway, Metrolinx’s Regional Express Rail, Edmonton LRT, and other rail/transit/transportation projects in Canada. either as the Owner Engineer or as the Contractor’s Engineer. AECOM Canada is acting as a Centre of Excellence for the delivery of P3 projects in North America. AECOM Canada’s Alternative Delivery Group is seeking a senior project manager for Major projects large and complex multi-disciplinary rail projects, serving both transit and freight-rail clients (heavy rail and LRT). Based in AECOM’s Mississauga Ontario office. The Deputy Design Manager is responsible to provide leadership and overall management of the Area in which they are assigned to on a mega transit project. Primary responsibilities include undertaking design management of large DB and P3 transit and other infrastructure projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Business development / developing leads aiding in winning new work
  • Preparing, monitoring and forecasting budgets/costs and project schedules
  • Building project teams and managing project staffing
  • Preparing and monitoring scopes of work and methodologies
  • Chairing frequent meetings (internal and client)
  • Overseeing quality review process for submittals
  • Non-project management project, or non-core, work could include some or all of design reviews, scheduling, report writing, presenting

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (civil, structural, construction, geotechnical, etc.)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in major metro design management experience
  • Bilingual in both English and French.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in major project delivery, complex infrastructure including transit and metros tunnels
  • Ideally a Master Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience managing large and complex multi-disciplinary projects (e.g. track, civil, signals, structural, architectural, environmental, electrical, systems, etc.)
  • Experience with international contractors
  • Experience dealing with both clients and technical staff
  • Foundational experience that might include design and/or site work and/or construction / operations
  • Experience with various delivery / procurement methods is an asset including design-build and P3
  • Working knowledge of railways and project delivery mechanisms including operations, maintenance, planning, environmental, preliminary and final design, construction management, design-build, alliancing, scheduling, estimating, and quality assurance/quality control
  • Driver’s license

Additional Information

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $150,000 - $165,000.
