The Company

This Design Manager’s role is with one of the UK’s leading main contractors. They have an excellent reputation and build some of the country’s most iconic buildings. They are a diverse organisation covering most sectors of the built environment and this specific role is within their refurbishment division. They offer a market leading benefits package and are also known for their commitment to developing their staff. Projects are also varied and diverse ranging from £1m - £40million in the commercial, retail and public sector.

The Role

Ideally for this role we are looking for someone who has main contracting experience and your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the production of the proposals, in preparation for review by the bid team, and updated to include all post tender negotiations.
  • Produce project specific designer agreements, scope of services and the design management plans, ensuring agreement by all stakeholders.
  • Produce and manage a realistic design programme and information required to achieve design, procurement, and build requirements in collaboration of all parties.
  • Ensure the design has been reviewed on all projects, mitigating Health & Safety, design and buildability issues prior to activity. Ensure hazards are noted on relevant drawings at each stage of their production.
  • Manage and report on design and designer progress, quality, and performance.
  • Provide input into the design team Performance and Development Reviews.
