As a Graphic designer and YouTube Thumbnail Strategist, you will be responsible for developing captivating and click-worthy video thumbnails that entice our audience to click, watch, and engage with our YouTube videos. You will be designing for channels including Veritasium and Astrum - leading and premium channels in their niches. You will combine your creative vision with a deep understanding of YouTube trends and audience psychology to drive higher click-through rates and audience retention.
Tasks
- Responsibility for developing thumbnail and titles for new videos and optimisation across our library of videos
- Thumbnail Concept Development: Collaborate with our content team to brainstorm and develop compelling thumbnail concepts that align with the technical and educational content of our YouTube videos.
- Visual Design: Create eye-catching thumbnails that effectively communicate the content, value, and intrigue of the video. Utilize image design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop) to execute your ideas and bring them to life.
- Audience Analysis: Continuously research and analyze YouTube trends, audience preferences, and competitor thumbnails within the premium science and learning niche to stay up-to-date with best practices and optimize our thumbnail strategy.
- A/B Testing: Conduct A/B testing to determine the most effective thumbnails for our videos and iterate on designs based on performance data.
- Consistency: Consider consistency in thumbnail design to establish a recognizable and cohesive visual brand identity for our premium channels.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor the click-through rates (CTR) and audience retention metrics associated with your thumbnail designs and make data-driven adjustments accordingly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the content team to ensure that thumbnails align with the content and educational messages of our videos.
Requirements
- Please note as part of the application process, as a first stage we will require you to submit a portfolio of YouTube thumbnails you have personally strategised and designed
- 3-5 years Proven experience in graphic design, creating YouTube thumbnails, digital marketing materials or similar digital media.
- High level of proficiency in image design software, such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent tools.
- Strong ability to create attention grabbing images through skilled composition design, utilising multiple visual elements
- A strong understanding of YouTube trends and best practices for thumbnail design within the science and learning niche.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative thumbnail concepts.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Adept at analysing data and making data-driven decisions.
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience working with premium science and learning YouTube channels is a benefit.
- Familiarity with SEO principles as they relate to YouTube thumbnails is a benefit.
