Vast is actively looking for a mid to senior level Graphic Designer, reporting to the Senior Manager of Brand Design. The Graphic Designer will work closely with Marketing and Brand leadership to create engaging, informative, and inspirational visual storytelling pieces, in both print and digital media. The ideal candidate will be proficient in current design software and skilled in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located onsite at our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities

  • Develop assets that are engaging, informative and inspirational, communicate our capabilities and products, and align with our established brand identity
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including business development and engineering to collect ideas and convert them into designs that connect with our world-wide partners and customers, including commercial astronauts and industry partners
  • Manage design process from concept through deliverable
  • Manage projects and collaboration with outside vendors / freelancers
  • Produce visually appealing documentation for customer deliverables in both Microsoft and Google Suite products
  • Develop high-quality print materials for brochures, trade show materials, etc
  • Develop high-quality assets for social media, web, and other digital
  • marketing outlets
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects including but not limited to; swag design for a webstore, gifts for customers, exclusive conference product offerings
  • Creating motion graphics for photo/video projects in partnership with our photo/video team
  • Managing competing timelines for multiple projects at any given time


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or other related field
  • 4+ years of design experience
  • Understanding of marketing concepts and design principles
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, After Effects, Google Suite, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated graphic design experience via portfolio
  • Typography expert
  • Effective communication and time management skills

  • Strong critical thinking and storytelling skills
  • Strong illustration skills
  • Self-motivated and creative solutions-focused mentality
  • Experience with motion graphics including text motion graphics for social assets and videos
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Lottie, and/or Final Cut Pro
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment with the ingenuity to define and implement efficient processes for effective work execution in a matrixed cross-functional environment
  • Passion for the space industry and changing “business-as-usual” paradigms


Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones


Pay Range

  • Graphic Designer Level II: $84,300 - $121,300

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.

  • 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. This status includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and asylees and refugees with such status granted, not pending.
