Objectives

The Product Designer is responsible for creating delightful and elegant human-centered product and service experiences. They are involved in every user experience-related aspect of the product development process, from contributing concepts to the next product innovation to the visual and interaction designs of our products.

Product Design : Responsibility level: Partial - Percentage of working time: 70%:

  • Contribute to product vision and product releases.
  • Design delightful, human-centered solutions that add value to the product(s).
  • Design, iterate, prototype and test new product features.
  • Confidently communicate design concepts (sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and flows) to key stakeholders, advocating for

the best possible user experience.

  • Working in a structured and agile way with your team and unit.
  • Constructively critique work of team members.
  • Collaborate closely both within your team and with other teams towards a higher goal, rather than working in isolation.

Customer success : Responsibility level: Partial - Percentage of working time: 15%:

  • Continuously deliver value to our customers.
  • Synthesize user insights, gaps and opportunities into differentiating concepts and delightful, human-centric solutions which

contribute to our customer’s success.

  • Evaluate and validate product usability on a regular basis with users, customers, and internal stakeholders, and use this input

to improve Mendix’s products, processes and company.

Knowledge and development : Responsibility level: Full - Percentage of working time: 15%:

  • Stay updated with the latest trends/thinking and move beyond product design artifacts and tools to create the right

deliverables for the job.

  • Eager to learn more and improve, whether it's the product, a process, your team, or yourself.
  • Share knowledge within the team, unit, R&D, and Mendix.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in design or relevant experience in this field.
  • Experience in product design.
  • Can function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Pro-active and act when needed without needing specific instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Open minded and able to think outside the box.
  • Experience with Figma, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with design systems will be a plus.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience.

Design Craft Skills

  • Deepen your craft skills, can discuss and reflect about your work in relation to business objectives and design principles.
  • Share and communicate idea with others.
  • Coach junior level designer knowledge of craft and develop their competences.
  • Skill of making interactive prototypes.

  • Focus your effort and that of your team on meeting team goals.
  • Set challenging individual goals and meet or exceed them.

Process Orientation

  • Work, mostly self-directed, within processes established by the team or someone more experienced.
  • Work on a set of features or a product experience touchpoint.
  • Own the solution to specific product capabilities that need to be solved (e.g. in-platform search).

  • Pro-actively foster collaboration within your team.
