GRAPHIC DESIGNER - RETAIL / FASHION (MIDRAND)

Responsibilities

Our client, a leading player in the clothing/fashion retail industry, is seeking a talented and passionate Graphic Designer to join their growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating visually captivating graphics for apparel, staying ahead of industry trends, and collaborating closely with the merchandise team to translate brand vision into captivating designs. Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and develop unique and appealing graphics for clothing, aligned with brand aesthetics and target audience preferences.
  • Closely collaborate with the merchandise team to understand design briefs, incorporate feedback, and ensure designs meet product and marketing goals.
  • Masterfully utilize Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to transform concepts into high-quality, print-ready designs for apparel graphics, prints, and branding materials.
  • Maintain a keen eye on industry trends, staying ahead of the curve and incorporating relevant elements into your designs.
  • Contribute to various projects, including seasonal collections, marketing campaigns, special collaborations, and more.
  • Communicate effectively with both the merchandise team and other collaborators, clearly conveying your design vision and rationale.
  • Maintain a proactive and detail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all design elements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Graphic Designer within the clothing/fashion industry.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with a strong understanding of design principles and best practices.
  • Exceptional creative and artistic skills, demonstrated through a diverse and impressive portfolio showcasing innovative and on-brand designs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and take constructive feedback into account.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate design concepts, propose solutions, and collaborate efficiently.
  • Passion for fashion and trends, with a genuine understanding of the industry and its target audience preferences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of juggling multiple projects and meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Bonus points for: experience with additional design software like InDesign, knowledge of apparel production processes, and familiarity with specific fashion subcultures or aesthetics relevant to the brand.
