  • Two COMPLETELY NEW Product Designer roles available
  • Hybrid working in the office once a fortnight.
  • Be part of a growing product design team
  • Health insurance, secure free parking, reduced price holidays and many other great beachy benefits!

Who we are

¡Hola!

We’re On the Beach, a tech enabled online travel business!

We are proud to send nearly three million people on holiday every year, but it doesn’t stop there! With huge growth, we’re on a mission to be Europe’s biggest and most loved online retailer of beach holidays!

What you'll be doing

You’ll be working alongside a fully empowered squad of engineers, researchers, product managers, marketing and content teams, customer support reps, etc.

As well as constantly iterating our current products, you’ll help us totally rethink the way people search for, customise and enjoy their holidays:

As a cross-functional teammate

  • Collaboratively approach the work, emphasising lean UX, design systems and design thinking principles.
  • Learn, plan and prioritise your areas of focus and approach in coordination with the team
  • Contribute to a growing team delivering end-to-end product experiences

As a design practitioner

  • Analyse products, conduct competitor and comparator analysis, review existing journeys and features and explore ways of improving and innovating our experience
  • Understand user mindsets, motivations and expectations. Contribute to mapping experiences, journeys and flows, to help us unearth and prioritise pain points and opportunities
  • Work with your team to generate and prioritise ideas. Participate in planning and facilitating co-creation sprints and workshops
  • Develop loose ideas into concepts. Work with your design peers and squad to evolve and prioritise those concepts
  • Support the team to use a variety of testing approaches and techniques. Measure experiments with your squad. Abandon unsuccessful concepts, and evolve successful ones
  • Design new components, patterns, layouts, flows and interactions which will feed back into our design system and component library

As a senior member of the Product Design team, you’ll...

  • Embrace a growth mindset, demonstrate the courage to fail, lean into learning through close collaboration with senior team members to always be growing in your approach, process, and output
  • Collaborate with the team on bigger picture, end-to-end thinking, such as evolving our design system and customer understanding

About you

We ask that you’re as passionate about Product Design as we are!

We welcome applications from people are able to..:

  • Demonstrate great end-to-end product design competencies across various stages. You'll have experience working on multiple features and iterations, possibly across different products, and professional experience as a product designer.
  • You will have designed customer-facing products. Ecommerce experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Possess a flexible, motivated, experimental and collaborative mindset. The work can be fast-paced and you should be comfortable with ambiguity, testing and continuous discovery.
  • Exhibit a desire to learn and refine your craft. You’ll be surrounded by talented designers, product managers, researchers, engineers, etc. where knowledge-sharing and learning from each other helps us all improve.
  • We’d like to see a portfolio which helps us understand your Product Design approach and experience. Ideally the portfolio would tell us about the approach you took and what you learned, rather than only showcasing final designs.

What to expect from our interview process

  1. Portfolio intro with one of our Principal Designers
  2. Team interview digging deeper into a case study, sharing your experience collaborating with Tech and Product, and Design peers
  3. Leadership Q&A with our Director of Design

Ways of working

We offer hybrid working. You’ll be in the office once a fortnight, so you will need to be based in the UK. For the times that you’re in the office we are based next to Manchester’s Piccadilly Train Station with access to free parking.

Our fulltime hours are 37.5 per week with core working hours between 10am - 4pm, so that we can collaborate and enjoy the social side of work.

Our benefits

We might be biased but we think our colleagues are pretty great. They’re the people that have made On the Beach what it is today and continue to make it vibrant and successful tomorrow. That’s why we offer a competitive benefits package, known as our Beach Perks, to all On the Beach colleagues. These include:

  • 25 days holiday plus your birthday off
  • Generous discount on holidays, plus you will receive 2 extra days annual leave on top of your holiday allowance to use whilst you’re away on your On the Beach package holiday
