Overview

GAQ-L&E Learning Experience Design Manager

We’re looking for a Learning Experience Designer / Experience Instructional Designer, for a 2 year fixed term contract/secondment position in our London office - with scope for hybrid working, both from home and the office.

A bit about our team; the Learning Design and Digital Production team are a group of learning specialists within Global Assurance Quality - Learning & Education (GAQ - L&E). We create blended learning solutions for the PwC global network of firms.

Key Aspects Of The Role

  • Provide expert design consultation on individual blended learning modules, using adult learning principles, instructional design best practice and knowledge of industry trends.
  • Prepare and facilitate design workshop and follow-up activities to translate needs into innovative, high level design (including creating solution outline and stakeholder proposal).
  • Advise on the best approach to deliver on the high level design considering established processes and where these may need to be flexed to best achieve needs while managing risks.
  • Perform reviews and provide consultation throughout the lifecycle of the project, including – reviewing scripts, instructor notes and online solutions to ensure fit for purpose use of interactivity, media and interface design.
  • Develop mock-ups and proof of concepts.
  • Advise on the use of learning technology (tools & infrastructure) possibilities and limitations working closely with learning technology specialists.
  • Advise on assessment and evaluation possibilities and considerations, making appropriate recommendations.
  • Provide additional coaching and support to Development Managers on instructional design, project management and learning technology related areas.
  • Develop and maintain best practice guidance on adult learning theory and learning experience design for use across the GAQ-L&E.
  • Create, identify and respond to opportunities to provide consultation and coaching within GAQ - L&E more broadly.
  • Share knowledge with the wider GAQ -L&E team and the Global PwC Learning & Development community.
  • Communicate regularly with the Learning Design and Digital Production Lead to provide insight on assigned projects, coaching needs and opportunities for process improvement etc.
  • Prioritising work, in conjunction with other relevant parties, to meet agreed requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Project Manage non complex projects with a high degree of custom design to support efficiency.

Role Requirements

The successful candidate will have solid experience working as an instructional designer. They will have an understanding of adult learning theory, learning development processes and project management best practice. They will have experience of working on interactive, cutting edge solutions and a passion for innovation and implementation of new trends. They will be responsible for leading the definition phase of learning solution projects, including determining the high level design and providing coaching and consultation to other team members to execute on that design. They will also be able to effectively communicate ideas with stakeholders and the wider team - verbally and through visuals, mock-ups etc.

The Following Skills Are Required For This Role

  • Strong communication skills, including actively listening to understand others ideas, confidently providing viewpoints and perspective, and using effective questioning techniques to navigate ambiguity / gain buy-in.
  • A strong understanding of the end to end design and development process.
  • An understanding of, and a passion for adult learning, instructional design and creating effective learning experiences.
  • An understanding of industry standard development tools (e.g. Articulate 360 [Storyline, Rise, Review etc], Vyond, Gomo or similar tools).
  • A growth mindset - ability to adapt and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth
  • Customer focused at all times – understanding their needs and keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
