We not only want them to help to find those ingredients but we want to make them feel confident in their choice by leveraging the latest in personalized recommendations, scoring, and predictive analytics. And that’s where you come in.

We are looking for a creative, problem-solving Product Designer to join the team to help us enhance the user experience of current Shutterstock customers as well as those of our portfolio brands in Pond5 and TurboSquid. Namely to remove friction in the customer journey so that it is stupid simple for customers to find and purchase the right ingredients for their creative work. This requires a designer who is curious about how users behave, understands analytics, can identify opportunities, design concepts, iterate, learn, and manage their timelines to ensure a smooth roll out. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, where through agility we ship quickly, and through experimentation we learn what resonates with our users to improve their experiences.

The day to day

  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces to ensure seamless navigation, search, and purchase experiences.
  • Validate concepts through rapid experimentation and user testing. Then incorporate those learnings to iterate on your work to provide continuous value to customers.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to identify new opportunities leveraging competitive analysis, user analytics, design best practices, and user research.
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure they understand the intent of the design, answer questions, better understand the technology stack, and design quality check their work before it is released.
  • Present work and incorporate feedback from design peers, product managers, engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in workshops where design, product, and engineering teams will collaborate to clarify or come up with solutions together. Who doesn’t love a good design session?
  • Leverage analytic tools like Google Analytics as well as user research to identify friction point opportunities and to inform design decisions.
  • Actively engage stakeholders from other departments as needed in marketing, research, and customer care to understand business objectives.
  • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to make data-driven design decisions and continuously improve product usability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to bring innovative design ideas to the table.
  • Extensively post GIFs and emojis throughout Slack channels.

What you bring to the role

  • You have experience with A/B or multivariate testing and working on an e-commerce platform.
  • You have an understanding of what great product design is and know what it takes to bring a project to full success.
  • You have five years of professional experience prototyping, journey mapping, creating user flows, and other design artifacts.
  • You work well in an agile environment working with Engineering and Product Managers.
  • You are strong in one and have a good understanding of the following skills: interaction design, information architecture, and user interface design.
  • You have an iterative approach to design, understand that design perfection is not achievable, and delivering value to users is the core part of the job.
  • You are a curious, passionate, motivated, and proactive teammate. You are comfortable with taking what is ambiguous and making it tangible by leveraging design thinking techniques like sense making and prototyping.
  • You’ll have a portfolio that showcases your work, provides details of your role on projects, and shows examples of systems thinking and functional designs that you have developed from start to finish (see Google’s portfolio tips ).

The Pay Range For This Position Is Below

  • $50-80 per hour in New York
