Ducky

Founding Product Designer

Job description

👀 WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

At Lyco, we're dedicated to radically changing the approach companies take in supporting their customers. Despite the passage of two decades, today's customer support systems have largely remained unchanged, while customer expectations have increased drastically. Ducky represents a significant leap forward, offering a solution that's faster, simpler, and smarter. By integrating with data repositories, managing internal knowledge, and leveraging machine learning, Ducky streamlines support processes through efficient automation, fundamentally changing the way agents assist customers.

We are a fully remote company, with our early stage team located in London, Nashville and New York City. Our unity stems from a shared commitment to swift execution, a passion for software craftsmanship, and an unwavering focus on quality. We are makers at heart, proud of the work we produce. Though our team is remote, we make a point of getting together for quarterly off-sites in person.

As an ambitious startup, we've achieved remarkable progress with Ducky — with an early stage product in market and companies who depend on Ducky for Support efficiency. Our growth is fueled by an exceptional team comprised of innovators from Scale AI, Lyft, Airbyte, and AltoIRA. Last year, we raised over $2.7M for our pre-seed fundraise, backed by a group of outstanding investors including PennyJar Capital, Bread & Butter Ventures, and Nomo Ventures.

🧠 What You’ll Do

The best part? We are just getting started and have barely scratched the surface of this immense opportunity. With the majority of the modern workforce being knowledge workers, imagine the potential of reshaping how they interact with company information. At Lyco, our design choices significantly influence the effective utilization of this knowledge. User interfaces and design greatly impact knowledge workers’ day to day roles, and, with Ducky, we can redefine their interaction with essential information and resources.

To support Ducky as it matures and changes, we’re looking for a Founding Designer to join our growing team. You’ll help to define our vision, product strategy, and user experience - driving the product design lifecycle from end-to-end. In close collaboration with engineering, you’ll break down technically complex problems and shape them into elegant, novel solutions that are discoverable, learnable, and powerful. As the first member of the design team, you’ll have great influence in shaping our process, objectives, and growth.

🤝 Who You’ll Work With

As a Founding Designer, you’ll be working closely with our co-founders and the engineers. Our customers love providing feedback, so you’ll regularly interact with our users to understand their problems, draw out insights, and ensure that we are shipping delightful features. In addition to this, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with potential users to understand the market landscape and develop a first-hand understanding of what we can build to provide maximum impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive complete product design lifecycle of major features
  • Partner with co-founders to understand business objectives and uncover customer insights.
  • Perform user research to identify problems and validate solutions
  • Partner closely with engineers to define product objectives, understand technical constraints, and ideate on solutions
  • Produce artifacts at various fidelities - specs, sketches, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, & production-ready designs - to take UI ideas from conception to production
  • Own Ducky’s design system and component library
  • Be the design leader and help establish design process

Requirements

  • Have a strong background in generalist design and prior experience driving the product design lifecycle end-to-end
  • Care deeply about getting the details right, through rapid, continual iteration
  • Are user-obsessed and excited to spend time with them
  • Are an excellent communicator with clear verbal and writing skills
  • Have an aptitude for breaking down technically complex problems into abstractions, finding a balance between ease of use, capability, and complexity
  • Are excited by, not just comfortable with, a culture of fast-paced, purposeful iteration
  • Thrive in ambiguity, can independently prioritize work based on business goals
  • Aren't afraid to challenge the status quo, applying critical thinking and first principles in your approach
