Surfaces Product Designer

Role Description:The creation, development, analysis, and research of new product designs and patterns for HI-MACS and Viatera. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, researching market and design trends, analyzing market trends and customer requirements, improving existing products, and collaborating with product managers and engineers.Generating color & pattern samples for product development and customer meetings (THD, Lowe's, etc)Aiding marketing and sales team by providing marketing resources and concepts for new products, and giving presentations internally and externally to promote new products.Ideating for innovative production technology to enhance design and manufacturability of new products. Collaborating with technical team on executing innovative production technologiesResponsibilities:Research and analyze market and design trends through tradeshows, trend-forecasting services and trendspotting Analyze competitor's design and customer requirements.Gain the voice of the customer through focus studies, surveys, and customer visitsPerform regularly competitor analysis on HI-MACS and ViateraCollaborate with product managers and engineers.Collaborate with HQ Design Center or external experts. Assist marketing and sales team on design launch needs by sending relevant trends and creating sales toolsUnderstand general and new technical manufacturing process for developing new productsDevelop design strategies and concepts.Develop prototypes and evaluate test samples.Collaborate with product managers and engineers.Improve existing products as needed.Present design & trend proposal to customers at internal and external events RequirementsEducation and Work Experience: Undergraduate degree in textile, graphic, interior, industrial design or related field.Less than 2 years experience (newly graduated designer)Knowledge and Skills: MS Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)Adobe PhotoshopAdobe IllustratorDesign related software programsInterpersonal skillsDetail OrientedOrganizational SkillsInitiative skillsProblem solving skillsGreat Social and Communication Skills
