Job Purpose

The job purpose is to ensure that Discovery Bank meets the needs of its clients through the creation of well thought out designs and capabilities that align to the bank's core values. This is achieved collaboratively through the understanding, exploring and materialising of our products in order to ensure that they align to industry standards and best practices; thus ultimately providing outstanding client experiences.

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

  • Collaborate closely with design team members, business engineers, product owners, business stakeholders and developers to accomplish the best possible outcome.
  • Design great solutions by following user experience best practices and standards while addressing the client and business requirements for App and Web.
  • Manage multiple projects across the ecosystem, assisting in setting the vision and standards for the user experience, and clearly explaining the purpose and client value behind decisions.
  • Follow and advocate for the design system, with the attitude to push further.
  • Ensure designs deliver on the core values, requirements and product strategy.
  • Assist/collaborate on the evaluation of design using the appropriate testing methods for the task.
  • Operate autonomously and follow Design Thinking methodologies in regards to driving progress by balancing collaboration, alignment and decisiveness.
  • Be the voice of the client and advocate for the best possible solution that delivers the best user experience while having consideration of the business needs.
  • Actively participate and contribute towards the team culture.

  • Professional communication (written, verbal/presenting and listening), presentation and facilitation skills.

Education And Experience

  • Matric/Grade 12.
  • Previous banking experience.
  • Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or relevant UX/ Design qualification.
  • 3 to 5 years working experience in a Bank on a product/feature team.
  • Have a good understanding of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material design standards.
  • Experience in User Experience and User Interface design for mobile and web platforms.
  • Understanding of front-end web design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
