Are you a creative and passionate digital storyteller with a talent for creating amazing design projects, looking for your next Graphic Designer role? Chester Race Company have the fantastic opportunity to join our well-established Marketing team based in Chester on a permanent contract.

This role will be exciting and varied, with Chester Race Company’s long-term growth plans underway, you will be a part of achieving our ambitious goals through managing design requests for all brands across the group; Creating high-quality print, digital and video design projects that encapsulate the excitement, glamour, and uniqueness of the race days, events, and the overall race company experience.

Chester Race Company Ltd is one of the North West’s best-known and most-admired brands. It is an evolving organisation with a broad portfolio but retaining Horseracing at its core. The Company, headquartered in Chester, owns two racecourses (Chester and Bangor-on-Dee) and operates a third course in Scotland, Musselburgh. At Chester, it also owns and operates an on-course hotel, and a vibrant pub and adjacent commercial premises in Chester city centre.

The successful Graphic Designer will be responsible for:

  • Designing independently for a broad range of projects from brands within the group, including print, digital and video/animations.
  • Implementing our creative brand identities when completing design briefs.
  • Showing initiative and strategic thinking to ensure designs fulfil the brief while working to deadlines.
  • Working in collaboration with the Senior Graphic Designer on all race days assets, branding concepts, & design briefs from across the group.
  • Assisting in the creation of social media/digital assets on race days at Chester
  • Communicating directly with stakeholders in relations to the design brief, from initial questions to project completion.
  • Managing day-to-day tasks and projects effectively through Trello, ensuring all design jobs are delivered on time

The successful Graphic Designer will have the following:

  • A strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
  • Excellent layout and typographic skills
  • A portfolio demonstrating design solutions across a multitude of platforms including web, mobile, print, display etc.
  • Experience working within a creative agency or in-house design team
  • Good working knowledge of print processes and production
  • The ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills to allow working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead a project to completion
  • BA in Design or a relevant creative field

Salary: £24,800 per annum

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, predominately Mon – Fri 09:00-17:00

However some weekend / evening work is expected around major events and race days.

Remote Working: 3 / 5 days are to be office based, with the option to work 2 days per week from home. Flexibility is required in line with the business needs.
